This might just be an uneducated opinion but I think part of the key is to have an engaging soundscape and OST. Give the players something they want to listen to and they won't be reaching for podcasts to play in the background.

I could be wrong, this is just my experience ^^;

I'm not sure if this counts, but I believe cooking and eating should be more communal affairs. Every household maintaining their own kitchens and pantries is really inefficient with food waste, and it'd be a better opportunity to form community for folks to eat together, try new things, etc.

I'm the exact same! The background really fades into the background, I just want to write the character thoughts and dialogue, I am exactly here.

We love our fictional girls and want to give them screen time rather than the set dressing, and it's a hard temptation to break.

I think dialectical synthesis on these concepts is the 'cat-girl tram'

Brands can't love, and you love what you do ^^

If that helps that's always the impression I've gotten following you here ^^;

I tend to alternate. For 'The Heart' I tend to know the ending of each book before I write it (with it being wiggled by plot events). For 'At All Costs' the ending came about in the process of writing it. I like having an ending in mind at the start though, primarily because I love surprises ^^

I wonder if she needs to have the ashes blown out of her port every once in a while, like blowing on a video game cartridge when it fails to load.

As someone who can personally attribute coming out to "Embric of Wulfhammer's Castle", there is definitely evidence to support your viewpoint.

So now creeps on the internet just have to stop hating women in general and lesbians in specific! ... Please!

What a waste of a concept, of a conflict, of a writer's valuable time.

Beaker and Scalpel then just start dating, utterly frictionlessly, in a way that was deeply unsatisfying.

I want to fix this, but I can't. It exists now, it can't un-exist. But only by existing do I know it must be fixed.

AAH!
October 27, 2025 at 12:50 PM
They decide to have the mind-wipe be a thing they mutually agreed on to undercut any potential actual conflict and make everyone blameless. I cried during an excellently written audiolog about Scalpel freeing her wife from the burden of knowing her, but I felt frankly pissed off after it.
October 27, 2025 at 12:48 PM
And that's excellent fucking drama! It gets spicier when it's revealed that Scalpel (Beaker's boss) allowed her own wife to be mind wiped, a thing which seriously offends Beaker, who considers memories super important for obvious reasons!

... And then they try to make Scalpel blameless.

Beaker's whole thing is that she's suffering dementia and trying to find a cure, which would also incidentally be a cure for the Agency mind-wipes, which conflicts her because she has a crush on her direct superior, whose wife was mind-wiped. "If I find this cure, I cannot be with the woman I love"
October 27, 2025 at 12:46 PM
And now I'm left wondering how amazing Beaker's story could have been if it wasn't an afterthought hastily cobbled together, necessitating some of the weakest possible narrative choices to force an early conclusion to just make something, *anything,* deliverable in the timeframe the writer had.
October 27, 2025 at 12:44 PM
But the depressing thing is that they clearly got at least one *very talented and ambitious writer* on staff for it! And then did not give them nearly the time or resources to cook, nor did they create game systems that would make implementing a compelling story possible.
October 27, 2025 at 12:43 PM
Best I can tell the developers had made a co-op focused isometric shooter with very little narrative focus, then panicked when they realized its appeal was very limited without a singleplayer component, and slapped together a story in 6 months to make a single player mode engaging.

So I guess I can thank Hades 2 for helping me feel less alone in hating the bizarre "biological family is God, even among gods" theming? ... I'd honestly prefer a well written game where the protagonist has agency though.

I remember the first game, going down the river with Persephone as "In the Blood" played. I remember thinking "This beautiful piece of music is making me desperately uncomfortable."

And for a long time the prettiness of the music made me feel alone being alienated by the sentiment...

Y'know, Renaissance Princes used to have master architects, a guy on staff to let them turn their weird, geometric quasi-fascist wet dreams into relatively liveable and frustratingly pretty urban form.

We don't even get a master architect here! We've gone backwards!
