These Rusophycus trilobite traces were found in Iraq’s oldest rocks, the Khabour Quartzite-Shale Formation. Captured by University of Duhok geology professor Dr. Abdulrahman Bamerni in the Barwari Balla area, Duhok, Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Dr. Bamerni stands next to trilobite traces. The fossils, of which there are about 25, look about 8 centimeters or 4 inches in width and 18 centimeters or 9 inches in length. They are a light yellow in a light gray bedrock.
