I’d just ask to keep Pumpkin Pie and bread rolls from traditional Thanksgiving

I agree with everything else

... yeah, I don't really know what else I could say. Great special, even if it's not quite as stellar as the other two main holiday specials.

As for the rest of the plot, yeah, it's simplistic, but that's part of the charm. It does a good job of presenting what Thanksgiving is all about, through the lens of these characters.

And the ending scene with Snoopy and Woodstock eating a typical Thanksgiving dinner, while heartwarming, also is pretty funny, since it means he could have made a real dish for the kids, but he chose not to.

Gold.

It's also funny that Charlie Brown looks angrily at Snoopy, as Linus tells him to help them out, as if he knows he's going to cause trouble. I mean, he was right, but it's still funny.

I love how he just does his own thing while getting everything ready, and even after Linus calls him out for playing around, Snoopy still gets into trouble. Him fighting a folding chair is still one of my Thanksgiving highlights.

The premise of Charlie Brown being pressured into preparing a Thanksgiving dinner with his limited skills because of Peppermint Patty inviting herself over leads to a lot of fun antics, especially with Snoopy.

Comparing it to the 3D Mario games, I'd definitely say it falls a bit below the Galaxy duology and Odyssey, while exceeding 64 DS, 64, and Sunshine (the latter by a landslide). As for 3D World + Bowser's Fury? That's kind of hard. I have them in the same realm of 9.5/10.

Much like Super Mario Odyssey did for 3D Mario games, this game changed things up dramatically for the 2D games. I like the NSMB series, but it was prime time for something new.

And boy, did this one deliver.

And on that note, while Bowser's Rage Stage isn't that hard, the setting and music more than carry the fight. I really like that Bowser goes with more unique themes for the final bosses in many recent games (an amusement park in 3D World, a wedding in Odyssey, and now this).
November 23, 2025 at 8:01 AM
Hell, the final Bowser fight involves timing your jumps with the music to hit Bowser from below in the right place.
November 23, 2025 at 8:01 AM
The music is another really strong aspect. It's great across the board, but I think this game puts a lot of focus on its music more than even other Mario games. I mean, many Wonder Flower effects involve some music change (Ex: Piranha Plant Parade, Ninji Jump Party).

As for the rest of the game - damn, is it good!

The worlds are really unique, I love the level designs, the powerups are fun (especially the Elephant Fruit and Bubble Flower), and the Wonder Seeds can shape the landscape in wild ways.

While I stand by those criticisms to some extent, collecting the Standees was a bit easier this time around since I put more effort into doing so early on.

Plus, the bosses still largely had a lot of creative settings. It's only really airship "bosses" that I found to be subpar.

Now? I can confidently call this my favorite 2D Mario game, with SMW being a somewhat close second.

My biggest complaints with the game were that the bosses were pretty easy, and that collecting the Standees was frustrating.
