For those of you that are afraid to put up a tree because you live with a cat, I just tested an idea that works for my tiny apartment: A stepladder, 3 pieces of 9' garland, and a ton of decorations. It's wedged between my bookcase and my computer so it can't fall, and he can hide underneath, too.
