I somehow (big surprise) messed up the count of video games I beat this year, and forgot to include Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms and the Return of the King game on PS2. Those two games bring me up to 40 games beaten in 2025!

game #38 was Shovel Knight! yet another game i never got around to finishing until now. (this year's theme, i guess?) @notnom.bsky.social played it together, and it was brutal. two nights full of mock 8-bit RAGE! still, though--it's a charming and stylish game full of personality.

game #37 was a long time coming. Super Mario RPG. this was a PERFECT game from every conceivable angle. i can EASILY see myself playing through this one again, because it was just such a fun, cozy and adorable game. (also @notnom.bsky.social helped with some of the puzzles)

in honor of the upcoming adaptation that will likely be terrible (and my newfound love of david syzmanski, thanks to DUSK,) game #36 was Iron Lung! awesome atmospheric horror game that's only like 30 minutes long. i have NO desire whatsoever to replay it, but i really enjoyed my time with it.

game #35 sucked. it was The Typing of the Dead: Overkill. i only have one screencap because the game was ass. edgelord and tryhard. just repetitive, loud and ugly to look at: but there WERE zombie strippers and the levels had visual variety, at least? idk

@notnom.bsky.social and i followed up with game #34: Dark Souls III! playing it brought back memories of getting the platinum on ps4 with @maxthebully.bsky.social (FUCK farming for the proof of concord kept UGH) anyway--we used Seamless Co-Op again, and it worked SLIGHTLY better than it did on DS1R.

game #33 is a game i've beaten many MANY times, but I wanted to beat with @notnom.bsky.social: Dark Souls! we used the Seamless Co-op mod and it... MOSTLY worked. basically all of the non-essential NPCs died instantly (?) and the lady darkling was hostile for no reason, but we still made it work!

fell behind on this again, but now i'm back with a flood of updates! game #32 is Dragon Ball Z: Budokai! nothing special, really. just a (mostly) competent fighting game adaptation of a shōnen anime series I grew up loving. simple and had everything I wanted (except broly and cooler)
