Seriously, Spotify, why we need TWO areas of the UI to click “create”? The top right button is fine; makes perfect sense. Good UX. The bottom right is a) redundant and b) incredibly frustrating UX for long term users, who have ingrained muscle memory for “Your Library” in that spot.

A taxidermied Superb Lyrebird from the Australian Museum, featured in the Long Gallery. His tail is prominently displayed, as it would be during mating rituals. This exhibit seeks to teach about the conservation and protection of native species. The “Irish elk” - which is neither Irish nor an elk - skeleton, preserved in a peat bog. One of the megafauna of the Pleistocene era, he is 2m tall and 8000 years old. He’s also mounted above your head so that when you look up, it’s like an Appalachian cryptid is staring down at you from the heavens. I love him. A complete horse skeleton in rearing position, with mounted rider. The horse is the Australia thoroughbred Sir Hercules; the rider has been dubbed The Bone Ranger. They have been together since 1983, according to the museum notes. They’d go hard on a TLT book cover. Twelve blue morpho butterfly specimens (male and female). The sheer range of blue that exists in nature is insane. In an alternate timeline, I am an excellent and extremely devoted lepidopterist, let me tell you about why butterflies are grand.

Sailor Mercury from the Sailor Moon anime series, a character I share 83% similarity with, have cosplayed at least once, and who forms 50% of one of my all time OTP's. Amy Santiago, from the comedy series Brooklyn-99, a character I share 81% similarity with, and love to love/hate, specifically because of how well I relate to her (Amy, why are we like this?) I have somehow never knit cables in my 20+ years of knitting. Doing them on just the sleeves has been a lovely way to start learning. (There is a single obligatory error where the cable slants the wrong way. This is fine; no one can tell. My soul remains untrapped, the gods remain unoffended, etc 😌)
The yoke of a knitted sweater, in a marled rust colour, achieved by holding one stand of dark red-brown alpaca lace yarn with one strand of grey blend unspun. It looks incredibly soft to the touch (and is). There are an obscene number of stitch markers attached to the project, for raglan increases, cable row progress, and other things your maker has already forgotten the moment she stopped looking at the pattern.

I always feel like knitting projects take me forever to get through, but here is a vest I started less than a week ago, around 50% complete 😱
A chocolate-brown knitted vest, half-finished, hanging on a black coat hanger. It is being made with double-strand unspun yarn, which gives it a very soft and fluffy looking “halo”. The construction is top down, and the necklone does not yet have any collar or finishing - this will be done last.

An apricot raglan sweater, with moss (or seed) stitch front panel and long sleeves. It’s knit in unspun yarn held double, approximately worsted weight, and looks slightly fuzzy. It hangs on a purple hanger attached to a walnut brown door which contrasts the warmth of the yarn very nicely. Because it has just been finished and isn’t yet washed, it’s quite rumpled and looks uneven in places, especially around the hem and cuffs.

Weekend!! The bugs persisted dreadfully this week… but so did my sleeves

Yesterday I spent a little over 6 hours in meetings (4.5 of them in a row…) The reward for this suffering was finishing my yoke and sleeve separation.
An apricot pink sweater yoke, spread over two circular needles to show its shape. The front panel is knitted in seed stitch; the remainder is stockinette. There are four rows of raglan increases radiating diagonally outwards, with pink stitch markers at each increase point. The same sweater yoke, now knitted through the bust to sleeve separation point. The picture shows only the front side, and looks much more like a sweater now that you can clearly see the neckline and start of sleeves.

Thank you all for the TLT sweater love! Since my people do indeed want knitting threads, here is my next project: another sweater in my favourite unspun Swedish yarn.
The beginning of a top-down raglan sweater. It’s being knit with unspun yarn held double, in a soft apricot colour with heathered flecks of rust and teal. The front panel is worked in moss/seed stitch. The same sweater, reverse side. You can see the flecks of colour more clearly here, as the back of the sweater is knitted in plain stockinette stitch. To either side of the back, there are three tracks of raglan seams, creating a neat tramline effect.

Librarian hours are go! 🩶Finished at last, my TLT Sixth House sweater. Knit flat and seamed, with stranded colourwork (not intarsia, I can’t stand it) and embroidery details to please me specifically.
A charcoal-grey crew neck sweater, with the words Go Loud in gothic font on the front upper centre. The sleeves have Morse code embroidery at the wrists, spelling out the phrases “life is too short” and “love is too long”, with a row of three embroidered hearts beneath each. A charcoal-grey crew neck sweater, back side. There is a small colourwork motif bearing the Roman numeral VI (6) at the centre back neck. A close up of the same sweater, front and sleeve motifs. The O in “go loud” is a skull, which has an embroidered scroll held between its teeth. The Morse code is running stitch embroidery, single width for the short characters and double width for the long. There are three white hearts beneath each set of Morse code letters, centred - when worn, they sit over the tip of the ulna.
