Archaeologist studying lots of things (mainly bones) ‘cos I’m cursed with curiosity. I like cats, crafts, bears and fungi. She/her. Own views.
I saw this @nottmplayhouse.bsky.social last night. It was really entertaining with a brilliantly staged zoom meeting. The audience was mystifyingly small - so book now for humour and to watch the fabulous Adele James saying it all with just one eyebrow!

I know I’m not team bovid, but it would take a heart of stone not to admire this 10,600 year old Aurochs from Vig in Denmark. #archaeology 🏺

I’m on hols, so time for a book I haven’t read in a very long time. At least I know I no longer want a cockatoo.

Look at this cutie! Gorgeous ceramic cat, c. 8cm long, in the Archaeological Museum, #Sparti. #Caturday #archaeology

Sorting things out at my mother’s. Astonishing what has been hiding in boxes.

May we all experience some of the joy of an elderly collie with a snuffle ball.

Saw this last night. Very powerful and thought provoking. Power, love, envy, hate. A play for our times written in 1592.

Beautiful flowers on the mammilaria. There are still some lovely things in the world. #TinyJoys

I had a fab day at the Northern Ceramics Society Spring meeting in Keele. Great speakers and loads of lovely pots from the 18th to 21st centuries. A huge amount of knowledge in the room too - if you have a query about British ceramics, someone there may well have the answer!

Finally. It is time. Hard to believe I’ve got this far without ever reading it.

Interesting to see money spent on ‘return on investment’ is still more than money spent on ‘maintain a reliable service’.

@severntrentwater.bsky.social may not be the worst, but it’s damn annoying to have your bill go up £120 in a year when the village has raw sewage in the streets when it rains.

Very frosty in the park this morning. I’ve not seen it creeping up the grass stems before. Looks like hair follicles.

Hi palaeopeople - this new Robyn Pickering account is a fake. The real Prof Pickering is @pickeringrobyn.bsky.social

This new account has an extra ‘bsky’ after the handle and started DM-ing me immediately after I followed it.

I had got plans, but now I’m the chosen one. Can’t disturb an elderly snoozing cat so I’m trapped with a book instead.

Off to a conference tomorrow. Have spent so much time in the office recently I’m thinking of arriving late so I can cuddle the cat for an hour before leaving. I’ve barely seen him!

Simple suggestion for saving water: all public and work toilets to have a sign saying which button is which.

Does big button = longer flush, or big = short flush and therefore larger to be obvious? #sustainability
