The one "good thing" these awful people, especially those who hold political office, have done is to put to rest the idea that American exceptionalism is real, and not a big lie designed to make us feel superior.

Shining city on a hill my arse...

I'm rooting for it, but...

As a cynic...I admire the "spunk" of this little plant & hope it thrives, but know that if it's growing in the wrong location, it will soon be stepped on and crushed by a human foot, pulled up by a human hand, or drowned in pesticide.

Good "feel" to it.

When I think of Schumer, this is the image I have of him. Head down, little if any eye contact, & artificial passion.

I think he has instructions to himself on his speech paper telling him when to raise or lower his voice, when to emote & when to look up at the camera or crowd.

Weak tea.

Hmmm...I chose to include a small cup of ketchup as the "one other thing" to honor Ronald Reagan.
I'm sure Brooke Rollins will appreciate my nod to the GOP POTUS who considered a cup of ketchup to be a vegetable when analyzing the makeup of a school lunch.

this is all to say that should democrats win the house and senate this november, they should hold similarly dramatic — which is to say televised and highly publicized — hearings on the conduct of ICE and CBP, with testimony from victims. we want as much of *this* as possible in the record. (3/?)
ICE detained Arlit Maria Martinez on her way to work. 2 days later, her 15 yo son died of cancer. They wouldn't let her out to say goodbye. The family had planned to move back to Mexico prior to the cancer diagnosis but stayed for his treatment. Now, Mr Martinez has lost his wife to ICE & his son.
Teen dies of cancer days after mother arrested by ICE: ‘She’s never gonna see him’
The mother's family pleaded with federal officers for her release from custody to say her final goodbyes to her son, but their requests went unanswered.

Seems like it's logical & imperative for reporters/journalists to investigate Jerr and take a critical look at the book the guy wrote.

The 21st Century has been terrible time for corporate/mainstream journalism, so far, and I don't see it getting better in the near future.
