Had a visitor to some kinda red berry bush in my yard. Was fun to watch, it munched on at least a dozen berries before fluttering off. One of those moments where being a camera nerd and having a 600mm lens in arms reach at all times paid off.

A lucky day, when turtle hatchlings were reported by a roadside and they turned out to be Blandings Turtles. There is a great story about how the Blandings turtle had to hold the sun in its mouth and that is why their chins are and bottom shell is yellow.

It had been years since I had seen Otters. Which sucks cause they are fun to watch. After a hike at "The Crack" in Killarney, we stopped for Fish chips and there the otters were just off the dock. Whole team waiting for Fish and Chips left overs.

Our dogs were going crazy on a fall day years ago. Looking up into the neighbouring pine tree we saw why. A young black bear, looking for a way past all the barking dogs in our yards.

Beech tree leaves are tenacious. They cling to their branches throughout the winter, which really makes them stand out in the woods.

Three weeks ago I set out to get an abandoned crane to a wildlife Sanctuary. The ones where I lived could not take it in. So Woodlands wildlife sanctuary made arrangement for a pilot to pick up "Ducky". To the pilot Kai, who volunteered to do the trip, i am grateful. Ducky will be released spring

Make it a point to bring my DSLR to work sites in case something like this occurs. Spotted this Barred owl as we were leaving.

Red headed Merganser, aka Fish Duck. Not loathed to the point of a cormorant....although they feed on pretty much the same thing. This photo came together thanks to building a hiding place and not immediately photographing. Let some nice shots pass by to ensure the subject were settled in.

Entering the fall season and as the water temp drops we can expect Salmon to begin their migrations here in Lake Huron. Salmon were introduced to the Great Lakes ecosystem to provide anglers.....more competitive sporting fish and provide stock for netting as trout populations had collapsed.

In the whole of my life, I have only seen these birds once. I was glad I was camera ready, despite the abundance of apples, they have not returned since. Cedar Waxwings, just a gorgeous birdy bird.

Had to Crop in for this and I am unsure of which variety of Hawk this is. Locally we can also call them "Kekek", as they were for hundreds, possibly thousands of years.

One of those days when it all comes together. Blue Herons can be very shy, so I camo'd up, built a hiding spot by a waterfall and waiting hours. For what wildlife did perceive me, the time spent just sitting there let them adjust. This Blue heron closed the distance, more concerned with crayfish.

I recall taking this after I got my kiddos on the bus. Its web was along the grassline, so I laid down on my side and started snapping pics. A truck screeched to a halt and I looked up at our Anishnawbek Police, staring down at me. The officer said, "Had this been anybody else I would be worried.

If you have the luck to meet a Spruce Hen, know that you have before you the most wonderful little bird, who will remain in place no matter how clumsy or belligerent your photography is. They are the best.
