I would still recommend to watch the Ponnelle film or the Glyndebourne version to know how it is traditionally done first. And if you are here in Graz then definitely go to see this! It‘s good and you will enjoy yourself throughout this 3-hour-long show.

Music-wise, it was well played, well sung that I enjoyed it throughout the show! They also added the chorus in the beginning of Act II everyone cuts because it wasn’t originally written by rossini, it really makes sense dramatically so I‘m glad the music director included it.

Punk cinderella, crossdressing ramiro and cinderella during party scene (i don’t mind), frog dandini(???) mix-matched with other fairy tales that I don’t see the cinderella original story that much (I still like it very much). But I would say it lacks tumult that is associated with Rossini.

The Inszenierung was rather unconventional that I had a hard time trying to grasp what it means, I read the programme book to understand it.

No, I still can’t fully grasp but that was still a very well-thought production.
