My belief is that Dr Dazzle's entire verse grew from the need to rhyme "movie on the Roku" with "it feels like tofu". "PG movie" is the only MPA rating that flows, and "feels like tofu" is unavoidably sexual. It demands a context where a guy ""too young"" for PG-13 is doin' it on the couch.

Roughly half of baseball games are < 9 innings. Many are 8.5 (full-length non-walkoff home wins), a few are between 8.5 and 9 (bottom-9 walkoffs), and there are some that are <8.5 (rainouts that shorten the game by at least 1 inning but not more than 4)

Roughly what wRC+ would a hitter have if a leadoff IBB was statistically justified? (i.e. if they hit enough 2B/3B/HR to make a BB a below-avg hitting result with none on, none out, 0-0 tie)

I imagine at some point someone suggested getting rid of the building-wide 9:30am-10:00am cigarette break for security guards, but backed down after the resulting riot killed dozens.

Sure seems like a bonehead move by the Twins to make Popkins the scapegoat after last season. The way that turned out makes me want to put money on Baldelli as a 2026 MOY.

Sometimes, 6 teams per league ensures postseason appearances from every team that nearly won a division. And sometimes you just end up with a random 3rd-place team playing 2 bonus games.

Trump's presidential posting has hugely vindicated my lifelong distrust of and disdain toward people who misuse capital letters like that. It's such a reliable indicator of an incapable brain.

Yes, that's what I'm curious about. Is Raleigh's marginal value to SEA's championship probability higher than Judge's marginal value to NYY's championship probability? I would be inclined to use that as a tiebreaker for my personal MVP opinion, but I realized I'm not certain Raleigh leads that.

Regarding the team performance aspect, would you lean toward it being likely that Raleigh's done more for SEA than Judge for NYY? Obviously WPA is too flawed to be the sole MVP consideration, but if cWPA encompassed defense, etc., would Raleigh even be leading Judge in that?

Them being in power proves them at least somewhat correct about that, no? Carr knows it first hand—the puppeted nastiness of the tens of millions of brains successfully mangled by Fox News et al. is the only reason there exists a president who would make a loser like him FCC commissioner.

That just switches the mismatch to other operations. 3 0 × matches "three zero times", but 3 0 + doesn't match "three plus zero". The natural English way to say 3 − 2 = 1 is "two less than three is one", but that doesn't mean it would help to switch the order of the operands in arithmetic.

It manifests as apparent rumination, but I think it's better understood as bloodlust. The taboo against sadism causes the bloodlusters who are capable of shame to hold it in until their peers brand someone an enemy, but then it's uncorked with no capability of proportionality.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. The first person's "starts with three" misconception is because they aren't linking 3 × 0 to the equivalent English phrase "zero, three times". They think "three times" means something different in Arithmetic than it does in English, but it doesn't.

Kids learn that [ 3 × ] is pronounced "three times" and assume they are learning a new definition of the word "times"—the name for the symbol [ × ]—but it's simpler than that. You say "three times" because you mean "three times", as in one time more than twice.

11-year-olds are taught simple arithmetic, which is all that's needed to calculate something like 1000*(1+0.05)*(1+0.05)*(1+0.05)*… . Sufficient wisdom to utilize simple arithmetic when assessing risk is something that either develops with maturity or doesn't.
