Read every single book. I'm guessing you can figure out which was my favourite based on the one I painted.

Identify what isn't working. Is the dialogue stilted? Plot lagging? Character motivation unclear? Also I use Excel a lot. You can make a table of your characters, a diagram of your plot, a list of themes/motifs/symbols you want to use. Have it running in the background; shift/tab to it as needed.
