Monarchia

I didn't ask for a definition.

I asked if you're claiming this government is implementing austerity.
November 26, 2025 at 6:24 PM
You're claiming Labour are imposing austerity?
November 26, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Not liking the imbalance in power doesn't make it go away. Reeves has to keep the bond markets happy as a priority.

Keeping them happy benefits the country.
November 26, 2025 at 5:39 PM
The bond markets have a lot of power.
November 26, 2025 at 5:13 PM
So you're opposed to the workers and renters rights bills? Both of which Farage opposed.
November 26, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Passive administration? Have you not seen any of the legislation they've been passing?

You seem unduly negative.
November 26, 2025 at 4:51 PM
It's a lot of effort and airtime by the government on a policy that will do very little.

Why don't they talk about the good stuff they've been doing. Workers rights, tenants rights, fixing the schools and hospitals the Conservatives left to crumble etc...
November 20, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Insane how quickly these institutions reputations have been destroyed.
November 20, 2025 at 8:42 PM
It was a very good series
November 20, 2025 at 8:39 PM
I'd much rather they talked about the good stuff they've been doing. Loads of it and the media aren't going to talk about it.
November 20, 2025 at 8:37 PM
The lack of consistency in the media never fails to amaze me.

Granted I'm not expecting them to necessarily stick to the same position for 25 years but more than a couple of days would be nice.
November 15, 2025 at 1:25 PM
Beautiful work
November 15, 2025 at 1:23 PM
Hugely damaging and stupid own goal by the government.

They shouldn't be having this kind of internal squabbling so early in their term and it makes them look completely out of control.
November 15, 2025 at 1:20 PM
Thanks for the depressing but fair update Ian.

McSweeney really needs to go but it feels like the poor political wisdom that resulted in Starmer letting him become CoS over Sue Grey also prevents him from getting rid of McSweeney.

He's too much the civil servant.
November 15, 2025 at 1:18 PM
It's difficult to take those who consider themselves to be the 'true left' seriously
November 15, 2025 at 1:13 PM
Most Brexit voters don't think it was a mistake so they have little incentive to change their position. Indeed such a shift could lose them support amongst their base.
November 15, 2025 at 1:12 PM
It doesn't really matter what they so when most of the media and commentariat will frame it negatively to their audiences.

Labour could turn the country around and notably improve quality of life but the public perceptions will still be based on what the media/commentariat tell them.
November 15, 2025 at 1:10 PM
I had high hopes for Starmer but needless own goals, abysmal comms, adopting socially
conservatives stances, and generally awful political sense has really damaged this government's future prospects.

A real shame since many of their policies are very good and essential for the UK's future.
November 15, 2025 at 12:58 PM
They really are the Conservative continuity party.
November 15, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Wish we could just put them on their own island somewhere so they can enjoy their 'ethnically homogeneous Christian' culture away from the rest of us.
November 15, 2025 at 12:50 PM
I miss the days when people were shunned for doing objectively bad stuff or at most used as an example of what you shouldn't do in life.

Now they're given a pedestal by commentariat ghouls wanting to cash in on the drama.
November 15, 2025 at 12:48 PM
Very good.

The "Immaturing with age" quote made me chuckle.
November 15, 2025 at 12:43 PM
This paper needs a disclaimer that it shouldn't be taken seriously.
November 15, 2025 at 12:42 PM
A reorganisation of party politics along Brexit dividing lines is possible but I don't think it's particularly likely when most people have more pressing concerns that they don't associate with Brexit.
November 15, 2025 at 12:40 PM
they're spending too much on social media with people who normalise normally socally objectionable views.
