In regards to my new job and my cellphone bill:
Text conversation between my mother and I: Mom: OK. I thought I might not be able to reach you at some point. I'm glad that won't happen. Me: Yeah everything is in my name, so nothing should change besides my bill. Mom: How were they paying your bill and how will the service know that you will be paying it now? Me: I don't know. They asked my cell phone carrier when I started and then my bill magically decreased. I suppose it will magically increase after my last day. Mom: That’s funny. I hope it works. Me: Sure, me too! I'm sure the corporate overlords are on it. If not, guess I'll suffer *shrug emoji* Mom: *delirious/barely holding it together emoji* Me: Wow I'm proud of you for knowing how to use that emoji

Panel 5: I feel my blood pressure drop as I start to pass out. The basement teens crowd around me as I lay on the floor clinging to consciousness. They begin taunting me for being "so drunk" that I fell down the stairs. Several of them grab my arms and try to hoist me to my feet, insisting I get up. Panel 6: I cannot stand, and I plead with them to just let me sit there a moment. They can't comprehend anything I'm saying, so I start SCREAMING at them to get the fuck away from me. They back off and walk away, shouting and pointing at what a dumb drunk bitch I am. I don't care. Panel 7: My sister brought me some water, and I eventually regained the strength to stand. She helped me up the stairs to a room with a bed and sleeping bags on the floor. I made it to the bed, laid down, and tried to fast forward to morning when we'd finally be leaving. I couldn't sleep because of the serious open wound on my leg. I stared at the wall contemplating all my life choices. Panel 8: As I laid there like a hospital patient with my injured leg propped up in full view, I heard people come into the room and up to the bed I was in. I pretended to be asleep. They said: "I can't believe she would just take your bed!! What a fucking bitch! I can't believe this!" “That is so rude, who comes to another person’s house and takes their bed?? Unbelievable.”

Mick was a 30 year old aspiring professional poker player living in his friend’s basement. We had been dating since I was 18. He had recently been threatened by the father of a 14-year-old girl at a McDonalds for giving her his “business card.” I was madly in love, and like most 21-year-olds, blindingly stupid. Panel 2: I was distraught for weeks after the break up. My younger sister thought bringing me along to a party she was attending would cheer me up. At this point, I was ready to distract myself from the endless loop of painful memories playing in my underdeveloped brain. Enough of that. I got all dolled up for the party, intent on attracting a new man to fill the hole in my heart. Panel 3: My sister and I were driven 2 hours away to the party by her friend - the only one of us who knew the host. I opened the door to see a house crawling with teens and 2 middle-aged parents - all of whom were incredibly drunk. Food and drinks were spilled on every horizontal surface visible. There were profoundly dreadful vibes. I grabbed a beer and followed my sister around like a lost dog while she mingled. There were no hot men at this party to fill the hole in my heart. The beer made me feel sadder and tired. I didn’t grab another. I ruminated about being stuck there overnight. Panel 4: At one point, we headed down to the basement. As I start making my way down the stairs in my stupid-tall slut heels, I slip in a puddle of spilled beer and nosedive down the entire flight of steel-nosed stairs. FUCK. Excruciating pain tears through my body. I look down and see bright white bone exposed through a massive bleeding gash on my shin.
