And MAGA wear their hats in supermarkets saying they would LOVE if I would made Nachos con Carne for them. And I'm thinking, "Bitch, I'm the one you're trying to deport even though my family has been here for generations." Lord, give me strength. I don't want to get kicked out of Fred Meyer again.

22 inches of 172 stitches in a basketweave pattern finally complete. Doesn't look like much folded up, but this is the back panel of the poncho I hope to complete by the end of the year. Today I start the same pattern all over again to knit a 20 inch panel for the front.

I used to hate Mondays until @garyvee.com posed the question, "What if I told you this was your last Monday morning of your life. Would you still complain about it?" Of course I wouldn't! Now, I take a deep breath and exhale. Let's tackle today with as much energy as our other favorite days!

A huge turnout at our Thursday Tracking and Trailing training session. Double the numbers from earlier this summer. A few are trying for their certifications this evening and a few are learning how to set track for the first time. Sunny and warm. Only a few weeks away from the August trial!

This spring, I took a beginning sewing class from Seamwork. Sounds crazy considering I've sewn my own clothes for years. I sewed this linen dayrobe. So lightweight! So summertime! And it has GIANT pockets!

BTW, there were quite a few tips & techniques learned in that class. Worth the tuition.

BIG MILESTONE! Java and I passed our TD Certification for tracking and trailing. We have earned 4 vouchers to officially enter official competitions. Lots of stuff to work on, but that is all for another day. Tonight we celebrate will sweet potatoes, cookies, and happiness!

Take off from Creamer's Field in Fairbanks, Alaska scheduled for later this morning.
In honor of World Migratory Bird Day, fuck off and fly away from all the bullshit dragging you down.

After a full week of training, doggie play dates, and classes, Java is TIRED! But it's the weekend! I'm sure a few hours rest and she'll be good to go in the morning.

Fairbanks, Alaska is losing it last fashion fabric store. And while most of my fabric shopping has been online for several years, I still find it necessary to say goodbye to JoAnn Fabrics before the close their doors forever.

As I say every year, you can't call it Spring in Fairbanks until after May 15th.

Today's AKC Scent Work trial results: 1st Place in Novice-A Exteriors, 2nd Place in Novice-A Interiors, and 2nd Place in Novice-A Containers. No Qualifying in Buried, but I better understand the issue. One more bright and early trial day tomorrow and then Scent Work Seminar on Monday.

I've always been upfront that my dream retirement is running moonshine in some post-apocalyptic nation. But when my husband sent me this, I had to ask him exactly how post-apocalyptic he expected the world to get.

Grape bricks: The sneaky Prohibition treat, in Alaska and elsewhere
An early Vino Sano advertisement called it a “kick in a brick,” adding that the buyer needed only water and “14 days patience.”

We talk about the boomerang logic of MAGA, but just read Robert E. Lee's writings from the Civil War. He writes to his son about how worried he was about succession, but as soon as Virginia peaced out of the Union, he went to fight for the South.

We ain't got time for this, nor the need.
People spend a lot of time wondering why the left is worse at using independent media to control the national narrative.

A useful exercise is to ask why the left is also worse at selling snake oil and pyramid schemes, because I think the reasons are basically exactly the same.

@michaelianblack.bsky.social @amberruffin.bsky.social @roywoodjr.bsky.social Thank you for another great season of Have I Got News For You. It makes the week worth it. Sad that I have to wait until fall for the next season, but my dog is happy that we'll hit the trails earlier now. Love you guys!!

There's NO "This land is your land/This land is my land" with my dog. There's ONLY "This land is my land."

Even though more snow is in the forecast, I've started work on my 2025 Spring/Summer sewing projects. The first is a shorter version of this "Day Robe" worn as a light outter jacket over a tank or a tee. This pink linen chambray caught my eye though it's a color I wouldn't normally wear.

Out of curiosity, I looked up Ben and Jerry's Threads engagement after Unilever fired their CEO David Stever. Engagement tanked from 3.1K likes to 32!

I wonder if Unilever thinks this move is going to work in their favor.

Don't even talk to me about Spring in Alaska until May 15th, maybe even May 30th.
