In 1793, 3 women are models for wax Venuses. Rumor is they come alive and hunt men who hurt them. Present day Alys is an antiques dealer who needs to secure the 3 models to destroy them & sever her ties to them. A gothic horror I kinda figured out but still held me tight. I really enjoyed this one!

Bree is running away from trauma. Archer lives in isolation because of his trauma, unable to speak. When they cross paths, both their lives will change. Not one for a love story but this one grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go! I loved the story and emotion. And the lesson of opening your heart.

Esther is a Jewish orphan searching for a home & her identity. The Winslows are a family that bring in & love orphans in their progressive household. They become a family, the bond lasts a lifetime of love and protection. Not my favorite John Irving - a bit slow. But glad I added it to my read list.

An amazing sounding book but it didn’t come through. Loved the horror and the description and gore were great. However, the characters aren’t developed so you never get attached. The story jumps from past to current but it really cuts up the story. Overall, not a fan.

This novel is not for the faint of heart!! A disease has contaminated all animals so human meat is the only legal option. Marcos works in a processing plant and gifted a female of special meat and develops an illegal relationship with her. Graphic but a great read about the dehumanization of people.

Together for a family trip - tensions and old familial resentments reignite when an accident reveals which daughter is the favorite. A great book that hits on the delicate fibers that make up family. #bookstagram #bookreview #loveyourlibrary #readersgonnaread #booknerd #theaccidentalfavorite

Robert is in Prague with his partner Katherine who has written a controversial book. She disappears and a doctor is murdered-Robert must figure out what is going on. This dealt a lot on science and I didn’t understand that part, I still enjoyed the story. Not my favorite, but it entertained me.

Olivia spent her life hiding who she is - niece whose aunt and uncle were murdered. Daughter of a horror writer people think did it. After decades of estrangement, he wants her to ghostwrite his memoir & reveal what he knows. Took me a bit to get into the book but when I did, I couldn’t put it down!

Every now and then I stumble across a book that emotionally wrecks me. A book I wasn’t expecting that brings out emotion, feelings & pain. The story of two women generations apart, struggling with love, life, & family. This book was so much more than I ever thought it would be.

Discovery of a body at her childhood home leads Danielle to revisit the past; 15 years ago to her vapid teen modeling days in NYC, illicit teenage relationship, and another death. Raw, gritty, and filled with characters that you feel no attachment or empathy towards - yet I couldn’t stop reading.

The premise & first half were amazing! But after that the wheels feel off. It felt fantastical and veers off course. I liked that I thought I had it figured out but was wrong so it kept me guessing but it just got so unbelievable and farfetched. Disappointed with all the hype surrounding it.

#Babyteeth is the book you didn’t know you needed!! A young daughter choosing to not speak, a daddy she loves, & a mother she needs to get rid of to have daddy all to herself. The Omen meets The Bad Seed, meets your worst fears. An absolutely delicious book that will grab tight and not let go!

I’ve always been fascinated with secret societies so #SocietyOfLies was a perfect read! Two sisters-each knowing secrets about their Princeton eating clubs-1 has died & 1 is holding a secret. Such a great read! #bookstagram #bookreview #loveyourlibrary #readersgonnaread #booknerd #pagesandprimrose

#ABridgeAcrossTheOcean is 1 of the best books I’ve read this year! Historical fiction with a touch of paranormal; not cheesy - in “this could happen” way! The povs change from women during WWII & a woman in current times. The story was addicting and heartfelt. I couldn’t put it down!

#theparisapartment started slow but once it got going - it was a freight train! Multiple povs fill in the backstory and propel the story. When Jess goes to Paris to hide out with her brother she finds his apartment empty and very suspicious neighbors. Who can she trust and where is her brother?

This got me in the feels as a new empty nester! I was riveted and kept relating to it all! Beckett’s daughter is starting college in her hometown - a place she left after a horrible tragedy. She is forced to return after another tragedy hits close to home. Loved the split timeline & so well written.

#AHauntingOnTheHill is a perfect fall book filled with the things we love about scary movies. The middle felt redundant with repeating of details but I liked the story and horror feel of it. I didn’t mesh with the characters- didn’t seem too likable but it was easy to get past that for the story.

Based on a true story - at 17, Madeline fell in love with prominent John Astor - 29 years older. But age and societal differences couldn’t stop their love. Pregnant & heading home from their honeymoon they board the Titanic. Hauntingly beautiful.

Allina’s life goes from idyllic to horror and finds herself in a Nazi women’s home & orphanage. Forced to work with no hope & trauma filling her soul, she learns to trust & love where all seems lost. The research of these true places tore my heart. An absolute must read!
