Male jacks generally have one leafy stem

A male jack in the pulpit has one leaf stem the interpretation is that a female plant needs more energy to make seeds so uses two leaf stems to collect sunlight.

I remember getting a lot of good art advice from Henri’s book years ago but I can’t remember the title now.

I like French ultramarine for stormy clouds. The granulation is sort of a bonus.

Fascinating! Lichen is amazing. So many shapes. I like the eyelash lichen on our oak trees which has tiny edge lashes to help catch rainwater flowing down the tree.

These are my favorite warblers and I listen for them every spring. They often nest in one of our bird houses and a sight of that bright golden yellow is a treat.

So sorry to hear of your loss. BuffyCat was weeks from her 20th birthday when we held her when she left us last summer and it was still too soon.
I’m sure Ted lived a good and loved life and will be remembered fondly.
