Well have fun with him sure you'll have fun together and if he canters he'll only hit about 40 mph lol

That's OK my daughter is a flat jockey in the uk so I've learnt some things lol

But it sounds like your doing all the right things letting him know you even sit in the field and let him just come up to you and eat grass round you is good

Oh OK so not really recently and do you know if he did hurdles(jumps) or flat as hurdles do more stress to the legs

How long since he raced as they make good hack out horses but not good dressage ones

You might want to just turn him out for a few months so he can relax and get use to you before riding
