My Dad was a humanist, not a Christian. I always wondered why this sat on the mantelpiece.

It was given to him by the mayor of #Hiroshima and was made from the roots of a tree that stood in the city.

I’m an atheist and it now sits on mine.

It’s what we were saying nine months ago; “the grown-ups” may be “in charge”, but it turns out they are unimaginative, unaware, and worse; cruel.

People learn through narrative and #Starmer doesn’t understand the importance of story; under #Keir there is no path to national redemption.

I think you’re not being at all consistent. You unequivocally equate the IDF with the Jewish people here.

If it is antisemitic to chant “death to the IDF” (it isn’t) then it is reasonable to hold the Jewish people responsible for their actions (it absolutely isn’t!). You can’t have it both ways.
Hugo Rifkind writing in The Times: “The first thing to say about this is that it was, unequivocally, antisemitic. Had it been, say, an American army bombing somewhere into dust, I'm confident even that audience would have felt wishing them all dead would have been a tad strong. Even "death to Isis" would probably be a bridge too far. But Israeli Jews? These days, fine. See also a crowd at a music festival giving no thought to the way this war began with a slaughter at another music festival. You'd think some feeling of solidarity would be inevitable. But apparently not.”
