Today felt like why we bought him, what we wanted to do in a post Salah world.
November 30, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Definitely. Clean sheet and Wirtz’s performance the positives.
I also wonder if we have for the first time seen most of the blueprint for a post Salah era.
November 30, 2025 at 4:03 PM
Definitely, also need to keep our composure if something negative happens.

I like the player, up to this season felt he was underrated. But this season he’s very frustrating.

In a team where Dom escapes criticism, Kerkez faces disproportionate flak. Ironically, that lack of trust from those around him (including VVD) is now undermining their own performances—building mutual trust fosters better team cohesion and elevates everyone’s output on the pitch.

Last night was the tipping point. Back to back home games with a 2nd half capitulation against sides we should beat + experienced players having bad moments is a pattern. Trend now looking exponential.
November 27, 2025 at 11:51 AM
Definitely something has to change. I think what we do next is directly related to Salah. Dom has to cover 2 roles now, but wonder if the club really wants to play 2 Doms in midfield.
This season I was expecting Grav to drop between 2 CB, Macca and Dom to partner then both FB + Wirtz to attack.
November 18, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Yes, definitely we’re in a 2 maybe even 3 yr process to rebuild the team. Fwd is mid overhaul. Next stage is wide fwds. X2 CB is next. Midfield is the intriguing one. I can see the profile of who we want will change. Either way I can see Macca leaving, bc his career plan involves Spain.
November 18, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Agree about his defending. He might of made things worse. I think we missed Diaz’s ability to carry the ball. Also Wirtz could of dropped into midfield whilst one of the 3 midfielders closely partnered Konate to counter the overload. But as you say Mo struggles didn’t help.
November 13, 2025 at 1:48 PM
Aye, the Trent thing is significant but a bit overplayed. What happened on Sunday wasn’t because we didn’t have Trent. Bradley was arguably better in defence. Konate’s liability and what we didn’t do in midfield was the issue. That wasn’t even a new player thing - established 3 midfielders.
November 13, 2025 at 1:30 PM
There is something to this. Remember our 2 biggest players are at the latter part of their careers and their contracts finish at the end of next season. Trent’s departure required a recalibration. Then some of the recruits weren’t like for like. Transitions like this are not seamless.
November 12, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Great thread 🙌
I think the Grav, Bradley combination can get better, I’m less sure about Konate. He’s been successfully isolated by other teams for at least the last 3 seasons.
On the right, in the short term it’s repetitive drills to install passing patterns.
November 10, 2025 at 9:39 PM
This is what transition seasons look like. We’re in a battle for a CL place. We’re okay at home and poor away. Not good enough to eliminate luck. With calm heads and resilience we can maintain our overall decent levels which is good enough for a CL place.
November 10, 2025 at 2:03 PM
This is the latest away table. We’re not great, no one is claiming that, but let’s be more measured.
November 9, 2025 at 6:44 PM
I can see it, there is more depth to their team. Doku and Haaland have added dimensions to their game that takes them beyond just being exceptional at certain important things.
Arsenal just cannot rely on not conceding.
November 9, 2025 at 6:37 PM
Arsenal aside all teams are poor away from home. City lost their last away game to Villa, who lost their last away game who won their home game today. We’re following the same pattern as every other CL team.
November 9, 2025 at 6:31 PM
Definitely a tactical battle (target Konate + overwhelm midfield). But these games have always had moments where one side has overwhelmed the other, but the other was able to make an adjustment. The lack of ball carrier is one less tool that we missed to enable us to make an adjustment.
November 9, 2025 at 6:19 PM
Doku is the big difference in this game.
We lack a ball carrier. Couldn’t pass through midfield because of lack of space. We missed a Diaz type of player more than ever today. Just changes space equation, tempo and control
November 9, 2025 at 6:09 PM
They’ve obviously targeted Konate and blocked all passing channels. Need to find different passing combinations now.
November 9, 2025 at 4:52 PM
Yes, especially at home
November 9, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Agree with most points.
Until last night, Kerkez had been better than Robbo in defence, Robbo better going fwd.
Macca’s form is key to unlocking the left going forward — no coincidence Wirtz had his best game there.
The last two opponents’ setups have suited us.
November 5, 2025 at 1:42 PM
Bradley and Macca returning to form provides the balance front and back + left and right. Doesn’t solve our problems with direct teams but now provides time to coach how we address that part.
November 4, 2025 at 11:08 PM
We’re different team with a functioning RB and Mac.
November 4, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Play the old team and win, and suddenly the Paul Ince conundrum returns. We don’t use a traditional DM—Dom basically fills that role, just not positionally. Macca’s fitness the issue, which is why midfield feels shaky. The real question is whether Wirtz can deliver as the supposed upgrade.
