Pacifichem is the International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies. Founded in 1984, these conferences have been held about every five years. Pacifichem 2025 will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii from December 15-20.
The Nightmarchers are a reminder of Hawaii’s deep reverence for ancestry, tradition, and the forces that shape its cultural identity.

The Nightmarchers—or huaka‘i pō—are ghostly apparitions of ancient warriors who once served Hawaiian chiefs.

Said to rise from burial sites or sacred grounds, they march in formation at night, accompanied by the sounds of drums, chanting, and conch shells.
