Inspiration is limitless, and motivation in low supply. But who said that hobbies have to be fully dedicated pursuits? They can simply be vignettes of an impromptu shooting from the hip.

He had the realization that loneliness is an illusion. A primitive lie we tell ourselves. The truth is that we're never alone in the world. There's an inherent connectedness in existence that you just have to be receptive to. And that's kind of the theme I tried to go for here. (2/2)

I was watching an interview with David Milch, the writer for Deadwood. He was telling this story about when he was sitting in a subway, feeling bitter, depressed, and--alone. That's when he noticed a loving parent and their child. He experienced some of their happiness in that moment. (1/2)

I couldn't get the fire right for the longest time, so I had to make my own reference. Wrapped an old sock around a branch, dipped it in vegetable oil, and lit it. Activated my monkey brain and did it a couple more times.

Didn't really know where I was going with this one. Actually started as a study with just her head, but then I kept going with the rest of the body. Then I felt like the grass, then the umbrella, and gradually the rest of the background. And that's just what it looks like: a series of additions.
