Amazon Prime Video move to monoliths can be explained with Wardley Maps!

1. Serverless tech is a commodity (evolution of computing to full industrialization)

2. The *practice* of serverless is novel and better supports groundbreaking ideas, while monoliths are best for known use cases

I think this is a complot organized by the domain registrar mob to make us buy new domains! 😂
Hardest part of being on Bluesky is deciding which domain to use as your handle.

I am seriously considering using SST’s OpenNext in prod.

If other cloud providers adopt and contribute, it could become the standard solving many problems in a portable way … such as having to write custom URL rewrites for Next.js-based SPAs in your self-managed hosting infra

building the foundation of the new SST Console this week

it’s going to be awesome and most of it will be free but also contain our first set of paid SST focused features

pretty confident it’s going to be very successful and demonstrate a unique way to monetize open source

After years working in PaaS where my customers own their code, this is the thinest explanation of what a platform is:

✨Your users build things WITH the platform; not ON the platform ✨

Dont abstract widely-adopted standards!

Building Software Platforms
Platform Engineering teams enable software organizations to transition to a native cloud model by curating and funneling technology innovations from hyperscale cloud providers. This book provides architectural and strategic guidance to build modern software platforms as internal products that empower developers as creative problem solvers
