Teaching in the midlands (80s) I learned my nickname amongst was " Clogs" & they kept asking me if I lived on Coronation St...( had a mild Northern accent)
By the end of my career as a Head in Hants, I sounded so posh! I learned to moderate, rightly or wrongly...

Actually I think the issues lies(lays?)with your current audiences...where once they shared your sense of the ludicrous etc...now they're more "mainstream " - they just want to hear you say non-PC things without noticing you're not actually meaning them...still, as you often say, the money's good!

Thanks, Warwick. As a sec head at the sharp end of Gove/Gibb...it was an awful era. We can all tell you why kids hate school & so many "fail"...it's down to the dire curriculum, the pointless & restrictive EBacc, the relentless pressure on "results". Kids got bored, least able stopped coming etc.
