Reading reviews from different authors helps mitigate cherry-picking, but I still don’t know how credible their arguments are because I don’t know how trustworthy the underlying empirical evidence is. To some extent, science involves some kind of faith, whether we like it or not.

Following the controversy surrounding the p-curve technique, I wanted to better understand how the z-curve (a technique that solves several problems with the p-curve) works. I created a Bayesian version of the z-curve in Stan, and I'm quite pleased with the outcome 🙂

New Preprint! According to perceptual load theory, irrelevant distractor information is not processed under high perceptual load. We show that the presence of a distractor accelerates search under high load, and this effect is modulated by target-distractor distance, reflecting attentional capture.
