I’m spooked to imagine a near future where my high bar for “reality” is vanquished (ChatGPT Advanced Voice mode is the scariest example)

I’ve found that loneliness doesn’t seem to have as strong a correlation with AI relationships compared to a persons willingness (healthy or otherwise) to suspend their disbelief. I find SoD extremely difficult thus my social prodding of any given Chatbot fails to stir me.

What struck me as “not surprising” was her past history with roleplay and willingness to maintain a longdistance relationship with her husband. I felt like someone open to those situations would be more apt to blend the lines between reality and imagination for entertainment or emotional fulfillment

Ah that makes sense and reveals my lens of experience on this topic. I first tried a Chatbot in 2011 and use ChatGPT everyday but no bot has ever been able to hold my attention socially.

Not that I’m some kind of Alito fan but I feel like that headline is pretty unfair to the context of that question. The comparison was that Playboy had articles that weren’t just smut and Pornhub is exclusively for porn.

Very interesting article, I find the prophetic nature of “Her” to be incredible. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to read as “surprising” though. I’m sure a lot unexpected people might engage in this activity but the woman in the article doesn’t strike me as a particularly surprising example
