Celebrating National Puppy Day! Here's 7-month-old Penny in a rare moment of stillness. It's a big moment for her, actually; it's the first time she hasn't reacted when the neighborhood dogs are in full-on bark mode. She's content to sit quietly at my feet & listen to the world around us.

Celebrating National Puppy Day! Here's 7-month-old Penny in a rare moment of stillness. It's a big moment for her, actually; it's the first time she hasn't reacted when the neighborhood dogs are in full-on bark mode. She's content to sit quietly at my feet & listen to the world around us.
Penny is 6 months old (a mixed breed "Supermutt" according to her DNA). She has the longest legs I've ever seen on such a young puppy.
Her face is a study in concentration; obviously, she takes her bone chew responsibilities seriously. 😉

Penny Puppy, who probably thinks her name is No Leave-it Drop-it- Off-Down (& variations thereof) believes anything she can grab is hers, no permission needed. That includes food, shoes, sticks, tree bark, and of course squeaky toys. It's been a marathon real-life research event for my WIP!

Buddy the Wonder Cat has been extremely patient with the new puppy, even playing in the backyard--right up until Penny Puppy jumped over him and (inadvertently, I'm sure) whacked him with one of her paws. Oops!

Sasha came to us in 2016, a rescue in desperate need of a safe place and people she could trust. She found that & much more in our 8 years together. We lost her 3 ½ months ago; the grief remains. 💔
