Yes, I recall this. Show of force. A similar operation was carried out on Michigan Ave in Chicago.

I think a number of people here would dispute the assumption/assertion that “crowd size” or behavior made the use of tear gas reasonable or appropriate

Interesting - are you saying that there, when people see agents detain someone, there is no reaction from people who are nearby and witnessing? Or are you saying that there have been no protests, generally, against enforcement? The events I listed here didn’t occur where protests were happening.

They deployed tear gas a few days ago in a neighborhood when kids were out going to a Halloween parade. They’ve detained minors. They conducted a military-style raid in the middle of the night of a south side apartment building, rappelling down from a helicopter onto the building.

In the NPR story that aired, Jacob Ware says that he does not categorize the Kirk incident as left-wing terrorism, as well.

Which article? NPR or the The Atlantic article by Daniel Byman? The Kirk killing was not included in his analysis because it occurred after the time period he studied. He also did not categorize the Trump incidents as left wing.

Just in terms of - when there is a will there is a way, that is. Not a possibility in the sense that that is something this government would do.

I have actually thought about this - how the animating fear on the far right has been federal agents going door to door to take away guns, and how absurd it seemed. But this has introduced that kind of thing into a realm of possibility that I never previously credited.

WBEZ and Sun-Times reporters also found a map crumpled up on the floor in the entryway of an apartment. It labeled each unit inside the five-floor building as “vacant,” “tenant” or as “firearms.” Some units appeared to be marked as both “tenant” and “firearm.”"
