Lover of books and the people who write (and read) them.
Golden memories of the great Rue McClanahan, who I adored since toddlerhood (still do), on what would have been her 91st birthday.

The original SCREAM trilogy was my equivalent of STAR WARS and sparked a lifelong love for "meta slasher whodunits." I still vividly remember the excitement leading up to 2000's SCREAM 3 (aka SCR3AM), released 25 years ago today ...

"Sidney ... don't you remember your mother?"

Going (Alex) #Guarnaschelli for the New Year, recipe 5: Italian Bakery Chocolate & Jam Sandwich Cookies. It felt like every step - from the dough to the chocolate glaze to the jam filling -was a misstep and yet the cookies are divine! Which reaffirms my belief in sprinkles. 😋

Going #guarnaschelli for the New Year, recipe 4: Classic Penne Arrabbiata. I've always loved heat, and the red pepper flakes certainly bring it! FYI: Arrabbiata translates to "angry" ... which seems appropriate! From Alex Guarnaschelli's ITALIAN AMERICAN FOREVER.

Thanks to some generous benefactors, the #LittleFreeLibrary is fully stocked for winter! I may have "borrowed" Steve Gonsalves's A LIFE WITH GHOSTS for myself. Shhh ... 🤫📚 #LFL

Going (Alex) Guarnaschelli for the New Year, recipe 3: Fettuccine Alfredo. Per usual, she's spot on when she advises freshly grated Parmesan cheese and committing to fettuccine noodles (to best absorb the sauce). I substituted broccoli for peas. Cookbook: ITALIAN AMERICAN FOREVER. 😋

About last night: An inspiring, informative evening at Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore, where Penny Goetjen, Author (DEADLY RIPPLES), Sharon Dukett (THE SHUTDOWN LIST) and Robin Cannon (INTO THE ATTIC DARKLY) discussed their newest mysteries as part of RJ Julia's Local Authors series. 😍📚
