Our lab is based at the @unioxarchaeology.bsky.social, University of Oxford. We use #tephra to date sedimentary records and understand more about past explosive eruptions💥
Some fresh new cryptotephra samples ready to be analysed this week! 🌋 @elowilkinsonrowe.bsky.social @danmclean.bsky.social

This summer Tom Burman, Rebecca Lawton and Jade Sands joined us through the UNIQ+ Programme. They worked on a variety of interesting tephra projects 🌋🥼🔬

UNIQ+ is a great way to experience research first-hand and recommended for anyone curious about postgraduate study.

And more recently, PhD student @gavrkane.bsky.social gave his conference debut at the @vmsg.bsky.social conference in Dublin 🟩 👏🏻 🧪

Gavin presented glass chemistry that can be used to synchronise eruption records between the Campanian Ignimbrite and NYT 🇮🇹

@danmclean.bsky.social is leading a new project to identify cryptotephra in varved lakes in Central America. She was in Japan last year to carefully sub-sample the LL-channel cores for investigation 🔎🕵🏻‍♀️
