I just asked him - yes, he 'sees' them as red. We didn't realise he was colour blind until he was eight years old, because he was so good at deducting the colour. But don't ask him to pick redcurrants, it'll take him forever - he doesn't benefit from the red/green contrast

I wonder if this is a great illustration of what happens in the brain of a red/green colour vision deficient (CVD) person? My son perceives things that he knows are red as red, even though he can't see the colour. But faced with a map that uses a red amber green colour scheme, he's stuck.
