As a regular transit user, as a single, with a friend/colleague, or even as a family, RARELY do the 4 seats facing each other make sense and just end up being used infrequently at full capacity.

A day of meetings on: new street design course centered on people; developing and applying the traffic hazard approach. Then I get a nice surprise: My copy and my share copy. @brooklynspoke.bsky.social @sgoodyear.bsky.social Looking forward to discussing in person!

Amazing how when there is safe infrastructure, suddenly getting around in healthy and inexpensive ways become a real option for parents. Even when their kid is what, like maybe 2-1/2? She was tiny and soooo cute putting along behind her mom. 😀

Last week I was at a traffic safety conference. People presented that the majority of people die IN motor vehicles and about how motor vehicles kill other users. I raised a somewhat controversial point: why don’t we recommend helmets for car users? 👇 continued

Ian Lockwood gave a great keynote presentation at #CARSP on how constantly trying to make things easier for cars doesn’t make our cities better and that limiting their impacts can bring life and investment back to cities with many North American examples. #humanCities

It’s just too bad that this space isn’t still just cars rolling through.

Am I the only one who feels like this is a depressing future? "Cars as a living space will be the ... future"

At the mobility hubs in Düsseldorf, you can rent mopeds, cargo bikes that can carry an adult (me!) and many traffic lights allow for slower crossing. @kmanaugh.bsky.social

Great to see the cargo bike mobility hubs in Düsseldorf! You can rent cargo bikes to run errands and such when you need them, no need for parking at your place. Fantastic.

Close a gross road to traffic and suddenly it’s filled with children running, playing and laughing.

Completely unscientific study, but this parent’s kid was probably grade 2 and they biked in -15 ambient and I’d guess having #allyear #allAges and #allAbilities #bike #infrastructure helped! Funny how vulnerable groups have more options when you reduce traffic danger ⚠️
