In chem class this week, I burned magnesium as a demo. I assisted small groups of students in burning the Mg themselves at the fume hood, while materials provided by #bwfcast allowed me to set up additional stations for the other students. Perfect set up for scientific inquiry!

Ideas about this camouflaged guy? Can’t tell if it is a butterfly or moth. Couldn’t get a good picture - every time I got 5/6 ft away, it flew off. Kept landing on lichen though.

Here’s another one @bertonemyia.bsky.social … a student just sent this to me. She tried to identify it, but couldn’t figure it out, and thought I might know someone who could help. I’m not sure what kind of caterpillar it is either!

About 30% of my S’s are Hispanic … I wish you had seen their delight when I added Duvalin and Carlos bars to my prize box. They were SO excited!
Headed to Mexico soon - many S’s are excited for me to see where their families are from 💕
