Side note- Pacific drive is a pretty good game. Generally I found it really enjoyable and fun, though I have some annoyances at the late game and ending. Really feels like a game that's a solid 7.5/10 with potential for a sequel or spiritual successor to be a real masterpiece.

you joke, but i'm pretty sure a ton of pokemon go's design is to force screen time. long animations, slow menus that are poorly optimized, waiting for spawns or spins, even if you have an auto-catcher/spinner, it works way less efficiently if your screen is off or your game is background'ed

coming up on 10 years and most of this game still feels like it was designed with parts that were used in alpha and never got properly worked on to be "fun" or "interesting".

Stardust is mostly just a way to keep us from leveling too much too quickly. Most items seem to exist in order to push us towards buying bag space so we don't have to spen as long managing items. and by managing, i mean throwing away most of them.

So much of the game seems to be getting stuff just to throw it away. Pokemon have never been more disposable. and while "progress" is still made in the process, it's poorly represented progress. i've got hundreds of thousands of candy for pokemon i'm only going to level up if i got a task to do so.
