New York Times killed Weinstein and Epstein stories but just asked Ms Rachel if she was funded by Hamas.

I was probably being too generous and willing to allow for the possibility Planter could explain himself and demonstrate some depth and capacity to learn. This weak bullshit from his defenders has been remarkably successful at talking me out of being forgiving.

Unbecoming is so right. Also, if the goal is to aid the candidate, letting him pretend this is his critics' fault isn't going to do it.

Trying to imagine how Obama/Rev. Wright (which doesn't compare to this) would've played if his supporters said it was the voters' job to just get over it.

Pretty sure it's "I'm going to say some pseudo profound bs to pretend I'm not an empty person who just wants to fawn over mah big strong army man"

If the guy wants to make a case and let the voters decide if he's changed, fine. But his defenders' "who amongst us wasn't a jr. Nazi" act is pathetic.

And, maybe this is just my own retrograde masculine attitudes talking but if you want to win with men, maybe do it by taking some fucking responsibility.

Not blaming the article but the entire framing of this as if it was "The Democrats" job to dig a candidate out of the hole rather than Planter's job to prove he's still viable speaks to how backward things have become. If he wants to win let him explain himself.

Platner puts Democrats through a political stress test
The Maine Senate hopeful hasn’t lost his progressive backers — but one is already distancing himself from the candidate’s posts.

In addition to the movie hitting all of the right beats harder and more confidently I really think the it benefits from going with a standard evil megalomaniac villain rather than yet another riff on the "We're not so different, you and I," trope.

I didn't read it as an endorsement but are you saying "that's just the way it is" or are you saying, perhaps in the example you're citing, CNN could/should extract a price for lying?

Different dynamics but obviously 4 years of the NY Times v. Biden proves media can do this when they choose.

Minor thing to focus on but isn't the whole"burn the boats" thing a story about Cortez and/or other Spanish Conquistadors? Yeah it's just a metaphor people half-remember from The Hunt for Red October but is she too stupid to realize Alexander the Great was not exactly known for crossing oceans?

JFC, his evidence for people picking on him is how often he trended in 2018-2021, aka a period with 2 major election cycles during which he was the head of a well-respected site for polling analysis rather than a noted dunderhead who grasps at irrelevant data points even when he's being a crybaby.

Orgs have been trying for years but there's still no decision on actually moving it to my knowledge.

Dog lovers push back against L.A.'s plan for a $58-million bike path in the Sepulveda Basin
The planned bike lane would take a sliver out of a popular six-acre dog park. The dispute is part of a larger fight over the future of the Sepulveda Basin.

Again, I love it here. We have some beautiful parks. Well, for now anyway. Last I heard they were going to cut a paved bike lane thru Sepulveda Basin because its easier to rip up a park than to have those cars speeding down Victory give up some sq ft, right Imelda Padilla?
