"users can always check the results and references." - Pity the Google marketing department don't take their own advice.

No self criticism then? Might explain a lot!

Having a job you love helps, but that isn’t possible for everyone… not many people enjoy being a cleaner for example. Don’t have a problem business owners making money, but when staff are minimum wage and they earn 8 figures+ it is demoralising.

Way to completely miss the point!

Maybe the the rewards for work were better balanced people would have a better work ethic.

At which point it stops being a democracy... and my statement still applies.

Without democracy you’d be stuck with him forever… with democracy you have another choice in 4 years…

Glad to see the pub is back open. Thoughts to the staff and in particular the landlady, hoping she makes a full recovery.

You would use a completely different user account to have different setting profiles in Firefox?
January 26, 2025 at 10:38 PM
So Microsoft changing licences from per install to Cloud-based per user licences or Broadcom forcing users to upgrade from perpetual licences to subscription only licences weren't driven by the finance goals, and are just my paranoia?
January 26, 2025 at 10:36 PM
There is no reason different application profiles cannot be kept within a single user profile and remain just as secure.
January 26, 2025 at 10:34 PM
It is a workstation where a "power user" may very well want to set up multiple profiles for performing different tasks.
January 26, 2025 at 10:26 PM
Most "modern" web application (e.g. Bluesky) it is possible to log in and out of the application completely independently from the OS. This is the UX I would want software to deliver, and if it doesn't I will always suspect financial goals as the reason for it not being implemented.

You have proved my point wrong about techies not being to blame for bad design decisions though.
January 26, 2025 at 9:54 PM
They aren't configurable per application user in the application itself. So the impression that settings are system based is pretty valid from a non-techie perspective since they have no need to understand the difference between a system setting and an OS user setting.
January 26, 2025 at 9:53 PM
Don't blame this on tech people. They are just doing as they are told by the finance / sales / marketing people.
January 26, 2025 at 7:14 PM
You can blame it on not recruiting cover for those injuries during the only month of the season it is allowed! 26 days and so far we have signed a goalkeeper! That's on Levy not Ange!
January 26, 2025 at 7:08 PM
26th Jan, Team struggling with injuries and no major signings... definitely a Levy issue now. I get you need to build the business as a foundation for the team, but without a team there is no business.

Disgusting. I hope the staff member affected makes a full recovery, and those responsible get to spend a long time contemplating their crimes!

Thank you for the correction! :)

Please fact / typo check articles... "1400 ET ( 9:00 GMT)." Also why would you use ET and not (local) PST?

Only a little thing, but this is why BBC is losing respect, nearly every article on the site has at least one mistake.
