with respect to Pratchett, whose work ethic and brilliant humanity kept him vital longer than most artists work at all, Watterson has to be the best English language artist of my lifetime. Who else is so universally accessible and endlessly re-readable? Thank god he wrote footnotes.

the worst mark i got in my poli-sci class was on an issue briefing where i was supposed to pretend to be a liberal but i still recommended nationalizing our whole o&g sector. worth it just for "the veil between now and the possible thins."
