Anonymous asks: How many words are too many when you're reading VNs and having to balance horny brain with emotional brain Kat's reply: I don't know if i've talked with you about this specifically (idk who this is!) but generally speaking H-scenes don't get me going from the art super often. But...if the writing is very descriptive, especially about sensations or emotions, it tends to have a pretty big effect on me. So you might see if i get excited about a scene i'll take a minute and slow things down thinking about it before continuing so i'm not just a Kat in heat. Maybe weird according to a couple people i mentioned it to but i basically never read H-scenes one-handed, if you get my drift

Hardest question first today

Kat's reply: This is quite difficult because some writers/directors will know how to keep a message clear and others intentionally leave it vague. If we're talking about vague, i actually haven't found that many. TSF Monogatari is beating a dead horse but i do read it as a transfemme acceptance work, even if the creator isn't trans it seems clear he thought deeply about how the lives, emotions, and simultaneous attachment (to try) and detachment (to abandon their original features) of the physicalities of the protagonist and the girl crushing on her would play out. There are many uncomfortable things for many transfemmes (forced op, bullying, rape, coercion, betrayal, coercion, pregnancy, dependency, etc. related to a trans body) but ultimately there is a strange sense of comfort that fills the reader at the end that i have to continue to recommend it no matter what. I Saw the TV Glow also stands out for me not because it was good (i wasn't a fan) but because it was made for people like me. I also think i'm starting to see a narrative emerge from the chaos of Subarashiki Hibi and am eager to find out if it can stick.
