They say a dog takes on the traits of its owner.
My dog likes to sleep a lot, eat snacks and isn't very social.
So there's that.

1. Aussies missing some big bodies in the forwards.
I reckon if the Lions play direct and limit their passing game to when they've earnt the right to go wide they can overpower that Aussie side.

This is from Sam Warburton's book on the Geography 6.
Will be interesting to hear the reaction to Farrell's call ups on this Lions tour when it's all over.
Winning the test series may cover up a lot of stuff but probably not everything. Lose and most of the dirty laundry gets washed in public.

He didn't seem too impressed to be doing media this week anyway

Attached are the Top14 numbers.
May 27, 2025 at 10:20 AM
8. Ulster had to release accounts to receive COVID supports from the UK government and as seen in the attached that number is 6.5 million sterling or between 7.5 - 8 million euro. Ulster are going through cuts but Gerry's numbers still look very low.
May 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM
6. The IRFU accounts that professional game costs (player and Mgmt salaries) are 38 million euro as per the annual accounts. That leaves a significant shortfall in Gerry's numbers. He still has to account for 25% of the overall IRFU budget.

2. Gerry reckons that Leinster are just above the Premiership sides but below the Top14 in terms of salary spend.
He puts Leinster 50% (3 million plus euros) above the likes of Munster and Ulster and more than double what Connacht are receiving from the IRFU.

Glasgow go after the same weakness Saints exploited in the semi final.
They wait until Prendergast looks to transition to the backfield. He signals JOB and Hastings spots the space and kicks for the grass. Keenan does well to cover but it's a nice net gain for Glasgow.

Nice view of Ireland doing prematch scrum drills.
Look at how far Porters left leg kicks out.
I think he's looking to get both shoulders in contact with the TH which means he's coming in sideways & boring in.
He's keeping his right side tight to Herring but his left shoulder is twisting in.

Ireland's loss yesterday has likely cost the IRFU 6 million euro in prize money alone. The sponsorship money for winning a Grand Slam wouldn't be insignificant either.
Their inability to get 4 tries against Wales has likely cost them 1 million as they may well finish 3rd in the 6Ns now.

And here's the stats to back up Irelands change in style.
Ireland are passing less, carrying less, have less possession and are kicking on average over 40% more per game than they did in the autumn.

A very small sample size but some signs to watch as Ireland look to be moving away from a short passing possession game towards more off ball tactics.
With the other provinces playing more on ball it looks like Farrell copying Leinster tactics, the Leinsterification of Ireland will continue.

1. Prendergast to start. As noted on the 6N pod he's been the one pushed by the IRFU in the build up.
McCarthy being out finally allows Ireland to deal with the pack build issue and look to sort the lineout with three primary jumpers.
January 30, 2025 at 12:37 PM
8. The IRFU accounts show academy costs as bring 3.3 million total so again split evenly that's 0.8 million to be added to the 7.5 million base. So the new updated base value is 8.3 million.
January 15, 2025 at 9:39 PM
4. So let's start with the IRFU accounts to see how much is spent on the pro game.
For 22/23 the player and mgmt costs for the pro game were just short of 38.7 million euros.
Top quality players are expensive and the IRFU pays centrally for 13 of these.
January 15, 2025 at 9:39 PM
3. The Midol article says Munster and Ulster were on about 8.5 million euro with Leinster at almost double that.
Why the difference? Mostly down to the number of central contracts (Leinster 10 with each of the other provinces having 1 each) and external investment for NIQs.

Here's another example of the pod/lifting problems.
This is a counter jump but James Ryan just shoves Beirne in the back here and sends him flying.
December 1, 2024 at 12:19 AM
Ireland's lineout problems are not just about the throw. It's the timing of the pods as well. Doris completely misses his assignment for this 5m opportunity.
