Prof Elden, on Lateur’s Down to Earth:
There is “a conviction, shared by some powerful people, that the ecological threat is real and that the only way for them to survive is to abandon any pretense at sharing a common future with the rest of the world”
“Our systems are now so fast, complex and interconnected that a future collapse will likely be global, swift and irreversible”

Hope that’s just posturing.

ABCs (“anyone but c***s”)
will all need to come together to fight the shitstorm of authoritarianism that is hurtling down the track.

What good can ABCs do as a minority on the back benches?

Btw you need to get real about refugees, as are the JRC/European Commission

Until about 2 minutes ago I didn’t realise that Robbie Gibb was a cofounder of GBNews🤯

Then I read Wiki - why do all right wing ppl have links to Russia? Is Putin our boss now?

Also, could you get together with the other good eggs at the BBC and do a coup or something?

It’s official. Humanity literally has no clue what it’s doing.

Here’s the central bank of USA (the Fed) forecasting the impact of AI on the economy:

1. Zero (humans go extinct so no economic activity)

2. Utopia (the end of scarcity - neatly ignores the laws of physics)

3. a 2.1% growth rate

“If you think we have a refugee crisis now, it’s the tip of a very large iceberg”

In Africa “a 1% increase in population growth increases the refugees by 3 to 5 times”

“by the end of the century there is between 80 and 120 million coming out of Africa alone every year”

According to ecologists
(who are our experts on population dynamics):

by 2070 we are looking at a global human population size of around 12 billion people

the sustainable carrying capacity of the planet is around 2.5 billion humans

The most common misconception I find is that a 2 or 3C rise is equated to local temperatures.

If it’s framed by comparing it to a temperature difference between now and the last ice age (5C lower?) then they might get it.

Or implications for a 2C increase on local temperatures e.g. 50C world?👇

Has anyone done a deepdive into the “checks and balances” preventing a rinse & repeat of US for the UK in 2029?

It appears we are enjoying our last few years of freedom and nobody seems to realise.

That great, but have you any idea why half the country wants what the US is currently going through?
