I loved Halo 3 and Reach as a kid. Despite never playing multiplayer, it was tonally special, and each playthrough was an experience that chased its own narrative instead of that of the modern gaming industry.

Then 343i came along and decided to fire anyone that liked Halo. That’s just idiotic.

There’s A Bugs Life for the N64, which utilizes an interesting mechanic where you can carry seeds around and then jump on them to sprout a plant to help you finish the level.

I mean, close enough, right?

I didn’t mention that I also play Dusk. I gotta give Cruelty Squad a chance, though.

It’s a tad annoying when people try to recommend shooters like Splatoon on the basis that it’s “original” and “fresh” when the multiplayer gives off the exact same feeling as playing ranked League of Legends or Overwatch.

With that said, Ultrakill has no multiplayer and it’s a banger game for that.

There’s this dumb game called A Bug’s Life, which contains a mechanic where you can carry seeds around for platforming and utility, while containing lots of optimal objectives in each level. It’s a weird game, but I remember beating the whole thing without a memory pack back in 1st grade.
