This is what I was saying, your advice to see a nurse (I don't see why I'd do it virtual rather than my NHS practice nurse for free) is something that I would do through the GP's surgery, it's not gatekeeping. Healthcare should be free at the point of use.

I voted against brexit. I can't imagine knowing whether my stonmach ache means I need to see a gastroentologist or an oncologist. It's not gatekeeping, it's guidance. Also it's free (paid for by general taxation).

As a lifelong recipient of universal healthcare, I suspec the referral system you're experiencing is a result of the private system. Here you get referred and then you see the specialist, that's the system.

How do you even know which specialists to see without the filter of a GP? I'd trust my qualified doctor over Dr Google any day. But then maybe I'm spoiled by the NHS, which means I can see my GP, or one of their partners same day for anything even possibly urgent, with no payment.

Right honourable? He's not a privy counsellor.

Level 1 is traditional.

Similarly, I have had conversations with tradesmen where I sounded like I knew what I was talking about thanks to a favourite client, an Australian plumber, who has his reports for home insurance companies transcribed. "Why, yes, the flashing ends short of the box gutter" I know all of those words.

As a kid in the 90s I saw so many rumoured "real" videos of someone dying that were not that. Within a month of taking up transcription and captioning I had seen video from multiple angles of a cop shooting an unarmed child, and a narrated autopsy (video for med students). Life takes strange turns.

Both, I need an edit button, especially at 11pm after half a bottle of wine.

As a freelance trancriptionist I've transcribed quite a lot of calls from prisoners for bot DAs and defence teams. Very common transcript.

Isn't social growth the main purpose of preschool? These people have the nerve to tell us they're smarter than us but they can't even identify the purpose of a thing they're paying for.

I just watched that while an ad break was on the telly, 3 ads while she was talking, all of them with white people only.

So you just stated the obvious for no reason?

"... or any dependents of P ..." SO P has a child with a British parner, that child is a British citizen, but the child has a diability so mum is deported.

Isn't it supposed to be like a public library, where we borrow the books/tunes and the author/artist gets paid per loan?

I broadly agree, but with a codicil, if it's only available on Blu-ray, ethical, because I wouldn't just have to splash out on the disc but on the player, single platform in a multi-patform world is exclusionary.

I forget which number rule of #FSCKThemAll @gregdoucette.bsky.social made it, but "Cops are like a box of chocolates. They'll kill your dog."

Hyphenated ableism. Way to fuck up the good point you were making.

People need to believe they're on the side of good, that's why even the Terror in France or Stalin's purges involve at least kangaroo courts. It's why very few within the French Resistance were up to the task of shooting even Nazi soldiers in the street.

I'm a politics geek with a circle of politics geek friends and a podcast/bluesky bubble of politics geeks, and even I laughed at the concept of millions of people worldwide tuning in to the live feed of the UN General Assembly.
