If they were using this opportunity to advocate for and build stronger connections with nonwhite trans people that'd be one thing, but it just comes off as extending their own clout.

Yeah that's why the jokes about trans men attending irritate me too. Stupid goal, stupid prizes, and comes off as shitting on other community members when there's more important shit to do.

How am I supposed to be ok with trans people trying to rehabilitate Dworkin when I see her toxic legacy on display at WDI-USA & other parts of the TERF/SWERF movements? Dworkin helped pave the way for SWERFs & TERFs working with Christian fascists. We need to end her legacy not celebrate it.

And now Donna Hughes is resurrecting Dworkin’s call for “primitive feminism”, calling for radical feminists to continue partnering with right-wing women/conservatives to fight trans people, sex workers, porn & anything else they argue is “bad for women”. Dworkin's ideas continue to do damage now.

Dworkin’s speech was about “Woman-hating: Left and Right”. In in it she claims that the left is as misogynistic & hostile to feminism as the right, encouraged radfems to work with women regardless of their politics & closed by calling for a “primitive feminism” that’s neither right nor left.

The Dworkin speech she cited was one she heard Dworkin give at a SWERF/anti-porn conference that helped lead to the formation of global SWERF/”anti-trafficking” org CATW. Dworkin appeared alongside other authoritarian/carceral feminists like Janice Raymond, Phyllis Chesler & Sheila Jeffreys.

If Leo starts meeting with trans Argentinian sex workers like Francis did, that'll mean a lot more.

Yet I have zero confidence in my "peers" in imperial cores caring when that happens. In the end, it's the dolls working the streets that will get things done, not idiots with columns or newsletters.

The only benefit I can see from this is if it extends to more outreach with trans Catholics from the Global South. But that's not what I'm seeing this meeting or ~the influencers~ focus on. We're still stuck in the "visibility will win" stage with no real, global-level organizing for survival.

I'm really fucking tired of white USian trans people seeing the most minimal, bar-on-the-floor kind of things as some kind of win. Or even something to compete with. "Oh but what about trans men meeting with him, what about their visibility?" I don't fucking care. Get your priorities straight.

That doesn't surprise me. Controlling parents of all stripes will jump to dismiss their kids understanding themselves or taking control over their lives, regardless of region
