Heartbreaking and unjust. Due process matters!!!

If you're confused, reread thread. I wasn't saying that the left killed fluoridation science. Someone said that a mix of the left + far right killed fluoridation in Portland, I was just saying it doesn't necessarily fall into ridiculous science denial, as our conversation has clearly shown!

I say, it's got some good bones. let's listen, talk, improve, participate, and improve the house. Let's dust out the skeletons in the closet and heal. To do so requires listening, as I'm listening and trying to understand you.

Here's my overall point: I love the house, even though the house has some defects, the structure of said house is intended to create a society that is free to self improve. It seems in vogue to either stake out "there are no problems" or "there are problems, burn it down".

Yes but so are studies on hyperthyroidism and flouride in water. It's not an open and shut case and to pretend so is to ignore a rational conversation.

To not acknowledge that we don't know something 100% when we don't is to leave the door open for the burn-downers.
To acknowledge that we get better information is the basis of science itself.

Simple: I am vaccinated, my kids are vaccinated, and I wore a mask even when the CDC was saying not to.
If reason and sanity are to win, we MUST be able to sheer off valid premises from invalid conclusions. Select one: we acknowledge imperfection (and continue to improve) (we burn it all down).

3) transparent communication of the science has been inadequate. For fear of people doing stupid things, public health has attempted to oversimplify, which has opened the door to a loss of trust and conspiracy thinking
April 21, 2025 at 9:57 PM
I don't suspect that all the science is wrong, I am however open to some possibilities 1) there may be other options available that may have less downside and 2) downside risk over over-exposure to fluoride is non-zero

Thanks, bud. Haven't one any social media jousts because of it, but I do sleep well at night. ✌️☮️

Not trying to parse a complex conversation 140 characters at a time with someone who's life, mind, and motives are something I can only guess at. It's a virtual impossibility to come away mutually clearer and feeling better, even if I had the time for the thumb jab march.

I can wholeheartedly join you in condemning bigotry. I can't join you in a blanket pass for the left on science. The problem is we could spend all day going back and forth here and never get more clarity. Happy to DM, happy to talk to you.

I'm pro seeing Trumpism as the evil and threat that it is and uniting to defeat it. I'm anti-toxin and pro strong immune systems (socially, environmentally, biologically). When I fall short of that, I am pro-apology. I'm not the keeper of truth and I'm just another human. Cheers.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Semantics on what liberal means or what left means don't get me anywhere. I am pro: you're right to choose, your right to be, your vote being weighed as equal to mine. I'm pro-kindness, pro-acceptance, pro-self-awareness.
April 21, 2025 at 8:39 PM
As are.... Human beings aware of nearly any belief system. I think a lot of clarification is needed about what we're talking about when we talk about science. Are we talking about the scientific method or any given result?

Thank you! Great reply. I'm with you.

I'll look into him. Thanks for the info.

So much of those studies are population surveys without a control, then the meta studies are aggregating those surveys. What has increased while flouride in water has increased is...brushing and flossing, less malnourishment, and flouride in toothpaste.
April 21, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Yeah, until very recently I was literally posting from your position! So as it turns out, it's a quantity thing, there are alternatives that are possibly better (research ongoing) and it should be in toothpaste. There is a medical ethics question in putting it in water, regardless of efficacy.

And as for your last line lol and agree: no sexpests invited in my tent!!!
April 21, 2025 at 5:41 PM
whoa that made no sense .. by "I don't agree with all thinkers" I meant: I'm not motivated by ad hominem arguments.

First was poorly written
