You’re right. We’re not in that world yet where we have any option we want. But WE have to create that world & one of those steps is to share the other options that exist. And let people know they DO have options.

So what we need to do, collectively and independently, is expend the spoons when we have them to help individuals find those resources in their specific location and in their areas of interest. Help them find their other options and quit pushing the USA military complex as the only choice.

There are organizations all over that help young people without resources obtain jobs and training and food and shelter without requiring them to sign up for religious or other berating.

There. Is. Assistance.

What many underprivileged people don’t have is knowledge these orgs exist.

FAFSA is free to fill out and even if Trump continues to gut that shot, scholarships.com (and other sites) provide free access to search and apply to tens of thousands of scholarships.

Trade schools have programs to help pay for your certificates and education.

Continuing to tout military as the only option severely limits options others see, and there ARE other options. Those other options may not be as immediate as the military CAN be (but is not always), but there ARE other options we should be sharing.

No one in this thread is condemning anyone, and that seems to be where your misconceptions on this post lie.

A lot of people don’t know how horrific the military is, ESPECIALLY for underprivileged people who are told to at their only way out.

Spreading that concept is dangerous and problematic.
