My kid has an essay due on a piece of lit fic & asks me to read it so I can help her come up with a thesis. I read this thing (SO MUCH SYMBOLISM) and give her all sorts of ideas only to hear:

Saw my first cybertruck in the wild. It was in the right turn only lane whereupon it simply went straight instead, cutting off other drivers and nearly causing collisions. So yeah. About as expected.

Having joined the ranks of parents waiting anxiously outside my kid's school as she texts from the locker room that they are on lockdown and it's not a drill, I DON'T FUCKING WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN.
It ended up being a bomb thread and it was cleared, thank god, but no more please!

My kid is currently visiting a friend in a walled and guarded community. Said friend is a sixteen year old girl named like a YA dystopian character. I feel like I've read this book.
