Won't post much as I have no insight or expertise, but sometimes forget that when drunk with the power of a keyboard. Pronouns whatever. Writer, editor etc. of ESL materials in Prague. Interests here: Politics, climate, SFF, linguistics, i dunno
If you're distrustful, you could just... check. Then you'd know if your suspicion was justified. youtu.be/JpuDXHm72rc?...

I've long hypothesised that he's some kind of hive organism. There are clues throughout his oeuvre (and they're not even that subtle).

Plus everyone with AI embedded into their workflow etc will be fucked when it's enshittified and/or when the companies providing their services go down in flames / get bought out.

Congratulations! Going by the title it sounds like a fascinating thesis.

What's happened to Labour is devastating. If MPs don't mount a rebellion over this they won't deserve to win an election ever again.

I realise that! It seems to be causing the good folk of Kent a surprising amount of anxiety though. Harrods does a Swiss Smile Diamond Glow toothpaste for £57 and has a matching gold toothbrush and toothpaste for £110 that would probably give them conniptions. Can we tell them, do you think?

Does Starmer imagine people smugglers will start some kind of full disclosure? Most migrants I've known originally came with wildly inaccurate expectations (and those weren't smuggled by people explicitly feeding them disinformation). You can't be discouraged by information you don't have.

I was reading entries to a competition by ESL students and about halfway through realised that a subset of the obvious AI cheats were all from the same course. They weren't cheating; they had simply all been taught to use the same few "good writing" formulae (rule of threes etc.). A weird effect.

I was quite startled at the headline but apparently a tube of Colgate is 92p from Tesco, & the own brand stuff is 50p. I'm not sure what's going on in Kent these days.

I bought an air quality meter to prove this to my wife (we disagree over the wood-burning stove). It might be that the meter isn't accurate but while the stove causes particulates to rise, it's not to any officially harmful level. The worst offender so far has been the (electric) oven.

For anyone wondering if this is true or not, it *has* been tested experimentally. I haven't rewatched since this came out but I recall the results being less than wholly appetising youtu.be/LHFhnnTWMgI?...

Some of you want life to go back to how it was in 2016. That's your version of The Good Time (tm), because it was before ICE raids, and DOGE, and before science funding cuts.

But that's not what I want.

I want to go forward to The Good Times(tm), where Black folk don't get treated like this either

I think it was through that post (or another in the same genre) that I discovered you on Twitter. I was delighted to stumble across you here much later. Do share more of these classics from the old days if you have others - you're not the only one who enjoys them.

It's an old thread being revived because it's Christmas and why not buy people art? And it IS being seen by real people. But you haven't included a link to buy your work so maybe add that ;)

I remember when Reagan died and suddenly the media was flooded with hagiography and I was like.... What the FUCK is going on?? When Thatcher died there were street parties and they had to change the rules to stop "The Which Is Dead" topping the charts

Absolutely one of the funniest and cleverest threads I've seen on Bluesky. It belongs in the Louvre but someone would only steal it. (Does @thelouvreof.bsky.social have a wing for actually good posts?)

I've a strong feeling it's a 52-year-old. I immediately remembered this story about Corey Lewandowski: www.politico.com/story/2018/0...

Then looking him up, "As of 2025 Lewandowski was acting at Homeland Security in an unpaid special government employee (SGE) position."

That's some coincidence.
