A fellow who lives in the countryside doing countryside things. Originally studied music, then did a compsci BSc + biomed MSc, then a history BA + a education BA! Reads a lot. Likes baking and cooking. Has chickens and ducks. All in all a bit odd tbh.
I just cannot take this dog seriously

I had an academic misconduct complaint against me because I’d used the wrong referencing style in an essay. And I only learnt it as I randomly checked my uni email and saw that the complaint had been dismissed. Cool, gimme a shout next time you want to talk formatting, we can share our fav fonts 🤦

Went on a three day kayaking/camping trip to Loch Lomond, made some duck and swan friends, got sunburnt hands, had a great time 😄

I’m pleased to say that my “Irish history” shelf is now, well, an entire shelf!

I leave the side door open for only a minute and the ducks decide to take the opportunity to invade 🦆

I’ve just finished this, a history of the redhead. And it was… marvellous. I now wish I was a redhead!

Today’s strange yet delightful book purchases! Just started the “Brolliology” one, so I’ll be dropping some random umbrella facts into any conversation for the next few days.

This week I’ve bought 11 books. Is it an addiction? Or is it boredom? Or a coping mechanism? Or all of the above? Who knows, all I know is that I’ve run out of bookcase space.

My “pick a book from my wishlist because I’m incapable of making decisions” website is now much better on mobile, looks nicer, and has a random book-themed background image. There’s also a eBay button, click it and it’ll search eBay for the chosen book!

To continue by exploration into the strange a wonderful world of oddly specific and niche history books I have this 🙃

I had too many books in my wishlist and zero ability to make decisions, so I’ve made a website to choose a book from my list for me! connor-sebastian-s.github.io/new-book-dec... You can also upload your own list for it to choose from too - it loads mine by default though haha

I’ve grown fond of history books that cover rather niche topics, for example I recently read one on the “history of the bedroom” and others on the history of ghosts, of the eye, of the heart, of wood, and ‘the south’. Now I need more - suggestions welcome! I’ve written a list of ones I’ve found.

Currently reading a book about the history of the heart, and each chapter starts with a heart-themed quote. I rather like chapter 1s.

Ah my new read, as seemingly random as my last few: “A Natural History of Ghosts”!

Spontaneous secondhand bookshop visit resulted in all of these - £10 in total! That’s me sorted for reading for the next month.

Nothing to say, just the lil one asleep on my bed, curled up with a toy lion ☺️
