I've heard that one idea in capitalism is demand drives the market. If Gen Z is switching to flip-phones, then THAT is the market.

My theory (and the reason I cancelled my Wired subscription) is that they seem to be relying heavily on AI to create bland stories that say nothing.

I just took a look at one such story, to see whether there was a byline. There wasn't. It said "Written by staff."

Too bad. If they had added a step "edited and massively rewritten by human" it might have passed muster.

I could say it another way: when a magazine that is generally known for its quality of writing is suddenly larded with stories whose style and content is unsatisfying, I blame AI.
