I had checked this out from our public library and will be purchasing it for OUR free library soon! For educators who can and caregivers wanting to raise kids who are capable of questioning our trillion dollar propaganda machine (that we are all subjected to) and staying grounded.

Thanks to @rcipdx.bsky.social , we were able to purchase these books and pins directly from @interlinkbooks.bsky.social , a Palestinian-owned, Massachusetts-based independent publishing house that offers a global perspective to readers.

These will all be included as a part of our library on 6/7!

Anyone else swooned into amnesia by Gone with the Wind, a racist romanticization of chattel slavery and plantation life? I was back in high school!

However, I have since read a few more books, connected the dots of oppression, seen many criticisms of GWTW and have evolved as a human.

Two new books in our library today.

On this day (May 19th) 100 years ago, Malcolm X was born in Nebraska. Four years earlier on the same date, Yuri Kochiyama was born in California. They were both born years apart from my grandma, who is still alive and living her best life today.
A picture book, The Bridges Yuri Built: How Yuri Kochiyama Marched Across Movements, and The Autobiography of Malcolm X displayed upright in front of a Black Lives Matter sign, fake orchid flowers and a stone wall.
